چکیده

The field of Very High Energy (VHE) γ-ray emitting extragalactic sources has considerably evolved since the new generation of atmospheric Čerenkov telescopes (ACT) of improved sensitivity, such as H.E.S.S. array and the MAGIC ACT, have started operating. This has led to a wealth of new clues about emission mechanisms at high energy through the discovery of new sources, more accurate spectra and temporal studies of sources known previously, and simultaneous multi-wavelength (MWL) campaigns since broadband variability is a key phenomenon to the underlying physical mechanisms at play. The fact that some of these new sources are located at redshifts close to z ∼ 0.2 makes them powerful probes of the Extragalactic Background Light (EBL) through the attenuation of γ-rays above 100 GeV.

Multiwavelength Modeling of Tev Agn Observed by H.e.s.s

The High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) experiment, a ground-based γ-ray Čerenkov telescope array located in Namibia, has now detected many extragalactic objects, which redshifts range from z=0.00183 up to z=0.2, possibly more. With the increasing performances of Čerenkov telescopes, it now becomes possible to probe these objects at small timescales in γ-ray, allowing the study of region...

The H.E.S.S. Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope Array is currently the most sensitive

The H.E.S.S. Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope Array is currently the most sensitive instrument for Very High Energy (VHE) γ-ray observations in the energy range of about 0.1-10 TeV. During more than two years of operation with the complete 4-telescope array, many galactic and extragalactic VHE γ-ray sources have been discovered. With its superior sensitivity and its large field-of-view c...

Flux upper limits for 47 AGN observed with H.E.S.S. in 2004−2011

Context. About 40% of the observation time of the High Energy Stereoscopic System (H.E.S.S.) is dedicated to studying active galactic nuclei (AGN), with the aim of increasing the sample of known extragalactic very-high-energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) sources and constraining the physical processes at play in potential emitters. Aims. H.E.S.S. observations of AGN, spanning a period from April 2004 to ...

Modeling of the Multiwavelength Emission of M87 with H.e.s.s. Observations

M87 is the first extragalactic source detected in the TeV range that is not a blazar. The large scale jet of M87 is not aligned with the line of sight. Modification of standard emission models of TeV blazars appears necessary to account for the γ-ray observations made by H.E.S.S. despite this misalignment. We present a new multi-blob synchrotron self-Compton model that deals explicitly with lar...

Gamma ray constraints on Decaying Dark Matter

We derive new bounds on decaying Dark Matter from the gamma ray measurements of (i) the isotropic residual (extragalactic) background by Fermi and (ii) the Fornax galaxy cluster by H.E.S.S.. We find that those from (i) are among the most stringent constraints currently available, for a large range of DM masses and a variety of decay modes, excluding half-lives up to ∼ 1026 to few 1027 seconds. ...
